In the noisy world of social media, it’s essential we do all we can to stand out from the crowd. It can feel like the big brands get all the attention and it’s hard for smaller ones to get their head above the water, but there are things we can do to catch people’s eye and draw in attention.
Let’s straight dive in…
-
Nail Your Brand
Make sure that as soon as someone lands on your account, you are instantly recognisable. Once they know and love your brand, this will then catch their eye as they scroll through their feed as being one of your posts and instantly draw them in.
-
Be Clear on Your USPs
What do you offer that other businesses don’t? How do you solve your audience’s pain points better than other companies? Get really clear on this so that it comes across in your posts and on your stories, as you need everyone else to know what you offer too.
-
Create Valuable Content
Create content that is useful for your audience, something they’ll want to keep coming back for. Give them what they want, share your knowledge from your area of expertise. Also, save worthy content will increase saves and therefore increase your reach too, saves are the new likes!
-
Use Video
Video is a fantastic tool to catch attention and show people even more than you can with a photo. It’s rapidly taking over, especially with the arrival of new and upcoming social media platforms like TikTok, as many people prefer watching videos.
-
Show Up
People buy from people! So, show up on your social media, let your audience get to know you, the face behind the page and brand. They also love being nosey and seeing behind the scenes, so share this too if you can.
-
Stay Consistent
Be there consistently for your audience. Keep showing up regularly, whether that’s every day, twice a day or twice a week. Whatever you’re comfortable with, but be consistent with it.
-
Be Authentic
You be you! Don’t feel you have to copy someone else, or be someone else. Your audience will see through it and won’t trust you. Plus, when you speak directly and truthfully to your audience, it will resonate with them and they’ll just want more.
-
Use Hashtags Wisely
Use hashtags to increase your reach. You can use up to 30 on one post, but use a variety, not the same ones all the time. Try to use ones that don’t have more than 100,000 mentions so don’t get lost amongst the millions of mentions, giving you a chance to appear on the top or recent posts for that hashtag.
-
Connect with Others
Create conversation and build your community. This will increase your engagement and will increase your reach, but also build a loyal bunch of followers. Ask questions on your posts to encourage others to comment or comment on other peoples’ post to start a conversation there.
-
Use Insights as Your Eyes
Don’t post blind! Use social media insights as your eyes to guide you on what your audience like and don’t like. Post more of what they do like and tweak what they don’t like to communicate the message in a different way. For more on using insights have a read of my last blog article.
Ultimately you need to create that connection with your audience. The connection you get when something aligns with you so much you just want more. You’ll follow the account closely and will be dying for the next post to come out. This is what we want to create.
So, use the above 10 points to make sure your business stands out on social media, grow your tribe of loyal followers, build your community and sell your products or services.
